PROMT is reporting about the implementation of the PROMT text machine translation solution into the "Norilsk Nickel" group of companies document circulation.

OJSC "Norilsk Nickel" is a diversified mining and metallurgical company and is the world's largest manufacturer of nickel and palladium, and the leading manufacturer of platinum, cobalt, copper and rhodium. The company also produces gold, silver, iridium, osmium, selenium, ruthenium and tellurium. Production divisions of MMC "Norilsk Nickel" group are located in Russia, in the Norilsk industrial district and on the Kola Peninsula, and also in Finland, Australia, Botswana and the Republic of South Africa.

For a company with such prevalent and powerful international connections, the ad-hoc translation of documents has basic value. Therefore, the company decided to install the PROMT Translation Server (PTS) solution, allowing for the provision of translation to a considerable number of employees concurrently. This solution allows access to the translation server via a web interface: therefore, it is very easy to connect new workplaces, and employees can also use the program from remote locations.

The company employees actively use the PROMT solution in spite of the fact that many of them can speak English quite well. The difference is that machine translation allows getting the text directly into the native language, and it is always easier to work with such text.
